Just so you know - the OS site may be down on Fri 9 Nov from 1300 and on Sun 11 Nov from 1800.

Do you think this is part of the WW1 celebrations. After all so many generals,seemingly , could not actually read a map. According to one book they were given a huge amount more training as young officers in etiquette and horsemanship than in tactics and planning.

TBH no.  Ask any NCO and he will tell you the most dangerous thing on the battlefield is an officer with a map.
