Title: Atmospheric day on Green Gable: the mist cleared at the summit part 1

Last Sunday I completed an A to B walk in the western fells from Gatesgarth to Seatoller taking in Haystacks and Green Gable. I got the honister rambler from Keswick and arrived at Gatesgarth at 11:15am. I approached Haystacks from Scarth gap pass reaching the summit 1.25 hours after beginning the walk. It was quite windy and sunny at this stage and, having done Fleetwith Pike, Grey Knotts and Brandreth before, Green gable became the major objective for the afternoon. I walked past two tarns before meeting the coast to coast path. As I carried on to Green gable a thick blanket of cloud rolled in. I had about 100 metres of climbing left before reaching the summit. I waited for about half an hour before deciding to descend back to Honister slate mine, leaving the summit for another day. Then the miracle occurred. A mighty gust of wind came from the south as Kirkfell and Ennerdale came into view. I turned around - I could see Green Gable. More cloud drifted into as I approached the summit but this was followed by another gust of wind as the whole of Ennerdale came into view. :D  It is only the 5th time in a decade I've had the fortune of mist clearing when I reached the summit. I descended to the windy gap, very appropriately named ;D , before descending to sty head tarn. I descended to Seatoller before getting the Borrowdale rambler back to Keswick. Total distance was 17km. Photos split over two reports.
