Title: Cheeky help for a fellow walker
Post by: Lark on 11:59:56, 02/10/20

Hey guys, im in my first year of uni studying product design. Im a felow walker and my back yard is the peak district which never gets old.
I'm starting my first year of puduct design and I want to make a head start in which direction I take my course hence why I'm here.
I'm trying to get feed back to some questions to help me along this journey.
Would there be any chance in people helping me here? Its a 5 min questionnaire and it would help alot.
I'm also very happy to answer any question here also.

thanks guys

Filling it now for you.

Some things I’d like to point out:-

1. Question 6 and 10 are almost asking the same thing. I certainly feel like the answers I give would be the same.

2. The question about buying new gear, I think most hikers would seek to replace an item if it is worn out, both new and old to the hobby. No one too, is going to restrict themselves to one purchase a year in they are in need of buying or replacing gear. Hiking equipment can be footwear or even socks so it is doubtful a hiker wouldn’t have any hiking equipment at all. I think you need to be looking at the difference in equipment that those who do it in certain regions or incorporate camping etc.

3. If you are interested in product design, I feel the questions are not really directed enough at products for this hobby. E.g. the question about snacks, I would say that most (if not all) hikers have some sort of sustenance for their hikes. I think a better question would be asking what people look for when choosing snacks or food, or if they cook on their journey.

I appreciate you are just conducting a basic survey but I do feel you need to to research your questions a little more before putting the survey together, otherwise you aren’t getting any relevant info really. Happy to help if you have any questions.  :)

Done, but I'm baffled as to how the Qs are going to help you with product design.

Completed - but I'm not sure that my answers will be a great deal of help in product design. Good luck with your project anyway  :)
