Title: Glaramara from Great Langdale
Post by: henryb on 20:21:34, 13/06/18
With sunnier skies in the afternoon I decided upon a route which would involve a long valley walk in before taking in a higher fell last Sunday in the Lakes. I got the 555 service to Ambleside from Keswick and the 516 service thereafter to Old Dungeon Ghyll. I decided to take in three fells which I hadn't climbed before. I picked up the CW before crossing the bridge in the direction of Esk Hause. The real hard work began on the zig zag route to the colony Rossett Pike shares with Bowfell. I summited Rossett Pike 2 hours after starting. I descended to Angle tarn for lunch. I decided to finish in Borrowdale and, after gaining Allen crags summit at 2.15pm, followed the undulating trail to Glaramara. My descent route followed Thorneythwaite fell and back to Seatoller. The highlight was the view of Borrowdale whilst descending Glaramara. I got the 78 service back to Keswick. Total distance was 13km, taking just over 5 hours.

Nice pics henry, it would have been nice and dry up there on Glaramara? Normally a bit of a boggy nightmare  :)

Superb pics Henry and a very nice route indeed - the benefit of using buses I guess so you do not have to start and finish walking in the same place.

Cheers

Lovely set of pics henryb.  You can't beat the views down a valley from even a modest peak, with the mountains either side framing the picture  :)
