TR Derwent Water walk Sat 9 Mar 19
« on: 18:31:02, 12/03/19 »
We'd planned to go over Souther Fell on Saturday but it had started snowing on the way to Penrith. We hadn't brought our spikes with us (poor planning, I admit) so we sacked that idea and walked from Keswick instead, along the shore path at Derwent Water toward Friars Crag. It was forecast to be really windy at height so we probably didn't miss much. We went beyond Cat Gill then stopped for lunch. The snow had turned to rain in Keswick but did stop after a while and we had some nice views on the way back to Keswick.

Causey Pike

Catbells

It was really cold in the wind but nice to have a few sunny spells

The obligatory shot of Catbells from the Boat Landings at Keswick

We'd had a decent enough walk but we are fed up of cold, windy weather. Our walk was Keswick - Cat Gill on the Derwent Shore path. 9.65 km with 66m ascent.

No pics from Sunday, we went to Carlisle to do a walk in Bitts Park and to find Pleb's bench but blizzard conditions saw us retreat back home. Later on we went to Brampton and a walk in Ridgewood, more snow and high winds there. We did 9.65km in total with 120m ascent.

More great pics April, can always rely on your weekend walk reports to keep us interested.

Was supposed to be in The Lakes this week, hoping for a chance encounter with Squeaky, but due to losing my job, I had to cancel.....well postpone until I get a new job.

Nice short walk and even a bit of blue sky. A dusting of snow makes Causey Pike look a lot more imposing.  O0

Nice pics April - made the best of it again.

Looks like being a bit rough this weekend too!  Me and the family have rented a cottage for three nights - we are stocking up on board games!
