It was a lovely sunny start for an amble round north Gloucester, near the Villages of Hidcote Bartrim and Hidcote Boyce in the north Cotswolds on Saturday.

Looking down toward the village of Mickleton.

I thought this story was poignant

Coming out of Bakers wood.

Which way ? ...The pub looked tempting..even closed..

One mile left and I had company.  :)

 :)

Can anyone recommend a good site for posting pics with.? I have tried to post bigger pics straight off but keep getting thumbnails.. ??? thanks.

( Managed it now..thanks Mel)

Nice pics.  Love the tree carving/graffiti and lambsies  :)

I've been using postimages to get my pics on here.  Free to use.  Just choose your size (640 x whatever it is works best, I think) then I get the best result by copying the "direct link" into the "Insert Image" button when posting on here.

I don't think you can.  I think it depends what device the images are being viewed on too as to whether they over-sharpen or distort too.

I'd rather just see the pics, warts and all rather than none at all because they're "too sharp"  :)

Okay, lecture over (I'm obviously in one of "those" moods tonight  :D  )

Very nice pics G&P.
It's amazing that the carving on the tree has survived for so long.

That carving must have been really deep originally. When I looked at it the pattern now, it is mostly flush with the trunk .

Oh to be in England etc. We're so lucky to have such wonderful countryside to walk in.

The carving is a very poignant reminder that times have often been worrying but they get better.
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

Very lucky indeed.
My spirits rise when arriving back here in the UK from a hot & arid country , looking out of a plane window to see our green fields once more.
