Where is this?

Does anyone know where in the UK I took this picture? I expect that not many of you have been here.

I tried to be a smart ass and look up the EXIF location data on Flickr but of course you used a real camera so it wasn't present.

Scotland?  :D

It is Scotland, but I was looking for a more precise location.

You are correct sir. I have been there a few times over the last 10 years. It is a lovely calm place with great views and some interesting walks. The venison from the warden is the best I have ever eaten.

It really strikes me as unlikely and odd you'd both have been to the same remote location but if anyone was going to know it, I'd have backed richardh1905.

I thought richardh1905 might get this, as he has posted several times about Shieldaig and Applecross, which are in the vicinity.

Not been there actually, but the shore looked very 'West Coast of Scotland", and the shape of the inlet is rather distinctive. The presence of trees narrowed it down more (ruled out the Western Isles, for example), but the cliffs and hills in the background puzzled me somewhat - not typical for the Highlands. To be honest, I might not have found it had BuzyG not mentioned Skye.

I presume that if the shot had been taken from a bit higher up, the Cuillin might have been visible to the left of the distant hill?

Not my photo, but looks rather like Sgurr nan Gillean in the background.

Most remote spot I have been to in Britain is Sule Skerry - in fact I have been lucky enough to spend several nights there in total.

How on earth did you narrow it down to Rona? Did you view many places? I resolved the Flickr URL you posted to the original and it does say Acarseid Mor, South Rona but I've no idea how (or if) you got there.
