Trusting to Luck?
« on: 09:52:51, 20/09/19 »
I was out walking in the North York Moors yesterday and above Barker's Crags in Scugdale met three elderly men (even older than me!). Although they looked well equipped in terms of clothing, rucksacks etc, they asked me the way to a country park several miles away across the moor, via a gliding club, which I am not sure is there any more. They said they did not have a map and they certainly did not seem to be using any electronic means.

I gave them directions and hope they found their way. Although the weather was benign, it did seem a little reckless to be wandering about the NY Moors without thinking through the navigation.

Possibly a bit late in the year for Lyke Wake walkers but it is amazing how many imagine that there will be a clearly marked path all the way across the moors.

They certainly were not on the Lykewake Wake Walk (I've done it), unless they were already hopelessly lost!
