I have never been to the Lakes. Driven past them on M6 loads of times!
I am looking to schedule in a trip for 2018.
Is there ever a quiet season (outside of School hoildays), in the Lakes from March onwards?
Or is it just generally busy most of the year around?

Generally busy most of the year unfortunately.

It depends on what you think busy is during the week and even at weekends its not hard to get around on public transport or even in your own car. Plan your walks and you can always find parking .

I've been to two of these and everyone is very welcoming. We have also managed to accommodate different levels of walker - 5 miles to 20 miles. Fancy it?
When I've got a bit more time I'll dig out the trip reports from previous meetings.

Hi Nesty........the forum meets are great! Have a look at the meet up section of the forum. Percy has put
details of the April meet up in the Lakes on there. Get your self down for it...............you won't regret it.
There's always plenty of hill walking experience with the guys & gals who go; no problem in tagging along.
I've been to three in the Lakes and can recommend them.

Some parts are busier than others, you can expect Scafell Pike to have dozens of people at the summit whilst half a mile away you could have Sca Fell to yourself. Great Gable, Catbells and Skiddaw are popular, Helvellyn, Fairfield and Blencathra slightly less so. I can't recall being on any other summit where there were more than a dozen other people.

October and November an be nice and quiet. Obviously summer hols and bank holidays are the opposite. Local is a big factor as well. The west side is practically deserted compared to the main hubs

Hi Sparnel...somehow I've managed to press all the correct buttons and find it myself...and been approved...I amaze myself at times :D ;D

The more touristy areas are busy for most parts of the year. If you want quiet then the western Lakes is very quiet, some of the most beautiful scenery IMO. I've been walking there many times and seen a soul. Also around Haweswater is quiet too.

I can thoroughly recommend the forum meet in The Lakes after attending this year in Buttermere which Tim (Percy) organised. Brilliant weekend and great walking and company and first time I had stayed in a YHA for over 40 years.
Just put my name down as a possible for next year.
