On Sunday we did a local walk. The weather forecast was for drizzle for a while but it ended up being a great day for weather. No rain, a bit cloudy with a few bright spells and quite mild. We got the bus to Hayton Lane End and walked toward Low Gelt Bridge.

Lovely colours in the woods

Another shot of the trees

Lady

She was enjoying the walk today more than yesterdays wash out. She kept whining at us because we were either stopping to take photos or were going to slow for her  :)

The trees were fabulous and we took lots of photos

More autumnal tree photos

A woman we met on the way said "Hello Squeaky" to Lady. Referring to the whining noises she was making. "Do you need oiling?" she said   :) We have renamed Lady. She is now Squeaky  :)

The only thing that spoils this walk is the road walking between Middle Gelt and Farlam.

On the road to Farlam

Talkin Fell

Talkin Tarn seen near Talkin Village

We'd stopped for some lunch on one of the benches near Talkin Village. We were pleased when we reached Farlam and the footpath to Talkin Tarn, 3 miles on the road it is. There wasn't a lot of traffic being Sunday and it isn't bad really but I wish there was a footpath or two in between Middle Gelt and Farlam.

On the Dandie Dinmont railway path to Brampton

What a great walk, autumn is a wonderful time of year. Our route was Hayton Lane End to Low Gelt Bridge - Middle Gelt Bridge - Talkin - Farlam - Talkin Tarn - Brampton Railway Station - old railway line - Brampton. 15.3km 200m ascent. We were all tired out, Squeaky especially, she'd stopped squeaking by the time we got to Talkin Tarn  ;)

Thanks Ridge, Rob and Sunnydale  :)

Squeaky is a proper little poser  ;D

Not in the same league as uncle Beefy  ;)

Lady seemed to be keeping beefy on track!

Beefy tends to veer to the right and Lady veers to the left. Perfect  ;)

More fantastic woodland photography - great stuff, April.  O0

I don't know if it's the same for you up in Cumbria but around here it feels like we've had a somewhat better showing from the autumn leaves than last year, when they seemed to get blown off the trees quite early by one storm after another.

And Lady is lovely, such a pretty dog.  :)

Beefy doesn't make squeaky sounds  ;)

Love the autumn colours.

Great colours again, but better weather.
Must have been good - noticed it was jackets off at one stage (and I don't mean Squeaky).
Only a hill but all of life to me, up there between the sunset and the sea.

Looks like a lovely walk.

This is just a 10 minute bus ride away too, it is a lovely walk for the most part  :)

It was very mild, we were down to one layer for a while  :)
