Goyt valley to Shining Tor
« on: 18:41:15, 08/10/19 »
Saturday's walk saw me undertake my first Peak district walk. Staying in Buxton, I fancied a walk nearby my hotel, so I decided to catch the bus to the cat and fiddle inn. The route would be circular walking by the reservoirs in the morning before taking in the higher level ridge walk from cats tor to shining tor in the afternoon. The visibility improved as the day progressed. Starting from the cat and fiddle inn I descended into the goyt valley before picking up the trail beside Errwood and Fernilee reservoirs. Traversing through woodland I approached Taxal edge before walking the ridge. Views opened up of Kinder Scout and Shutlingsloe. Total distance was 18km.

Thanks April and Ridge O0  Buxton was fine; I stayed at the Portland hotel and found the public transport services good. Some services were hourly and I got the TP service to Matlock bath on Sunday, its a lovely town as well :)

Nice photos and a lovely day out hike for you .
I Did part of the walk in September .
Walked from Pym Chair to Shining Tor .
Was heading to Cat and Fiddle But Gale Force wind made me drop down a sheltered valley above the A537 near Lamaload reservoir and do a circular walk bypassing Jenkins Chapel to the car park at Pym Chair .
The Goyt Valley is about 12 miles from home :
Over many years I have walked Traversed all the areas you mentioned and took photos of .
It's a Beautiful area scenery interesting never ceased to amaze me .
Next time drop down the valley near Errwood reservoir and look at The Ruins of Errwood hall and on the same path is the Spanish shrine .
Buxton is a great place to start of Lots of walks ,hikes lots of variety .
Glad you enjoyed your walk .
And thanks for sharing  O0

Lovely photos henry    :)

Glad you found Buxton to be a good base.  When staying there I've done a lot of walks in the dales of the White Peak, accessed by public transport.
