Walking Book Recommendations please?
« on: 16:10:42, 17/05/17 »
Hi I am still researching my walks for June around Great Langdale. Can anyone recommend some good books to get hold of for walks?

I see the following on Amazon and they all have good reviews tbh.

50 Walks in the Lake District - AA 50 Walk Series
High Level and Fell Walks - Cicerone
Low Level and Lake Walks - Cicerone (for low cloudy days)
Great Mountain Days in the Lake District - Mark Richards

Any others I have not added above, please feel free to mention

Thanks,
Nick

For oodles of online inspiration I highly recommend David Hall's website

I second what Mel says about David Hall's website, it's a fantastic read with lots of ideas for the Lake District, high and low level walks.

I don't do books anymore, I just use a load of web sites and the Bing Maps, free Ordnance Survey section. Books is boring and limiting!

Point taken, I did order the latest edition of the Wainwright's book 3 for the central fells where I am initially going. I am finding them helpful as a beginner, but like most thing, with experience they do become limited etc.

Thanks again for all your input.
