Title: Crook Hill, Lost Lad, and Derwent Edge
Post by: harry_keogh on 09:20:37, 30/10/16
Probably the last 'popular' area of the Peak District that I hadn't covered yet - I made an attempt at this route quite some time ago when the snow was knee deep in places and we were the only people seemingly attempting to walk in it. Only made it half way round. A bit more successful this time in some good weather and lovely autumn colours.

I enjoyed reading that. Think I did the same/similar route to you a couple of years ago - you got better weather though!  Lovely pics and write-up.  Thanks for posting  O0

Cheers - I was actually a bit disappointed with the photos. They don't look too bad scaled down but enlarged, they were all too soft and lacking detail. I haven't got the hang of my Pentax bridge camera yet. My old camera - a cheap old Nikon coolpix which probably cost no more than 60 quid - took much sharper pictures. I've tried manual focus, infinity focus, and different settings on the dial but they always come out too soft. I was going to experiment with controlling the settings manually but my understanding of shutter speeds, aperture sizes etc are rather limited.

Anyway - that aside, it was a great walk, which I may extend if I do it again by incorporating Win Hill into it. Not sure where to go next. I'd love it to be Snowdonia or the Lakes but with Christmas coming I may need to budget on diesel costs a bit.

Always a lovely walk, especially when the heather's at it's glorious best.

Nice photos Harry O0
