This week-end's walk was a short trip to Castlewellan forest park. I always visit the forest at this time of year as it is my favourite autumnal walk. Starting from the car park I headed straight for the summit of Slievenaslat. The walk is on good tracks the whole way and once the summit is gained, breath-taking views open of the the Mournes. I returned on the same track to the lake and just before leaving the forest encountered a squirrel. Its the first time I've met a squirrel on my walks. Before returning to the car park I did part of the lakeside walk. It was a very calm day and the forest was reflected in the lake.
