I drove down to see Beefy and Squeaky again on Saturday. Our walk started from Greenfield again in the layby car park.

There was one of those mobile catering vans in the layby.

Now we all know why Mel gave up her job at the chippy  :D

We climbed up the bridleway toward Noonsun Hill.

Pots and Pans and Alderman's Hill from the bridleway

It was another hot sunny day but there was a lovely breeze most of the time.

On the bridleway

On the Tameside Trail

We turned right onto the Tameside Trail, or the Pennine Bridleway or Moor Edge Road, it seems to be all three!

Looking back toward Warlow Pike

Harridge Pike

We would be descending this hill later on the path just about seen in this shot descending left to right

Manchester in view

Looking back to Buckton Vale Quarry

Walkerwood Reservoir

Descending to the Brushes Road

We were going to take another higher up path but a padlocked gate on the right of way stopped us.

I think this is Wild Bank

Looks like a lovely hill to climb  :)

We walked up the road for a while then found a spot for lunch in the shade of some trees. We sat for an hour enjoying the break from the sun.

Lower Swineshaw Reservoir

There were lots of rhododendron bushes all the way up the road and near the reservoirs.

Higher Swineshaw Reservoir

We turned left at Higher Swineshaw Reservoir over Turf Pits in between Harridge Pike and Slatepit Moor

Bog cotton on the moorland

Buckton Vale Quarry

We descended to the Pennine Bridleway again and retraced our steps back to Greenfield. Our route was Greenfield Wellihole Bridge layby - Moor Edge Road - Carrbrook - Brushes Valley - Higher Swineshaw Reservoir - Pennine Bridleway - Carrbrook - Moor Edge Road - Greenfield. 10.75 miles and 550m of ascent. Another smashing walk in the sunshine.

Lovely pics.
Very annoying when ROW are blocked and can mean huge detours >:(

This was just a small detour. The path at the other end of the right of way which we passed near Lower Swineshaw reservoir had no closed sign or anything so perhaps we were meant to climb over the gate  :)

That looks a lovely route, I really am going to have to broaden my horizons O0 .  Annoying when a ROW is blocked without explanation, happened to me on the C2C, but being more [censored] than you I climbed over the gate.

I think we would have climbed over the gate pre-covid  :)

I keep missing these walks  :-[ , I must be programmed just to look at the Lakes section ;D

That looks lovely and reminds me very much of the moors near me especially the bog cotton grass. Well it would do if my local moors hadn't been set on fire by plonkers with portable barbecues  >:(
Please add portable BBQ's to the banned list and whilst you're at it add those little silver canisters of gas that the yoof of today drop everywhere >:(

Added to the list Karl  :)

Near Carrbrook we noticed a lot of the moorland was only just recovering from being on fire a year or too ago  :(

The ROW passed by a farmhouse, not that close to it really but we figured best not cause any aggravation if that is what the padlock was on the gate for.
