From June until October 2011, visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park are invited to take part in a trial of two electric, road legal buggies (b-bugs).
The trial is being run by a local research company, The Prospectory and is sponsored by The Welsh Assembly Government. The b-bugs, ‘Boris’ and ‘Blodwen’, are effectively “rain-powered” using electricity generated from micro-hydro schemes in the Brecon Beacons.
Successful applicants will have a b-bug delivered to their holiday residence and have exclusive, free use of the vehicle for a period of between 3 and 5 days. The b-bugs have a top speed of 30 mph and a range of about 20 miles between charges. They offer a fun and eco-friendly way to explore the country lanes, visit the shops or a local sites or reach the start of a day’s walk
