Great TR. Did you say there was some rain. Your river of mud is reminiscent of the Essex bridleways and paths. Water and clay make a great combination  :( .

Just remember the Flanders and Swann song - Mud, mud, glorious mud
These boots are made for walking.... so long as the rest of my body agrees

Thanks everyone  :)

sussamb and domtheone and pleb - Glad you noticed the weather, I forgot to mention that it was raining  :D

phil1960 - I'm sorry but I don't believe it's actually physically possible to take a cagoule off in Wales  :o

Ridge - definitely no chance of any of that heatstroke malarkey  ;D

DevonDave - aye, I've dried out now  :)

Fernman - thank you.  I enjoy writing them  :)

videoman - cheers.  It was a good couple of days, despite the weather.  Obviously I was really glad to get back to work  :-X

redeye - is there such a thing as a dry day in Wales.  The quarry is definitely worth a poke around - a little hidden gem  O0

Penygadair - Aye, shame you couldn't make it and I hope Mrs P's recovery is going well  :)

Jac - cheers.  Fear not, I'm sure there will be plenty more walks in the pouring rain for you to choose from  :D

Dovegirl - yep, you've got to have a giggle in the absence of views, sunshine and the absence of open cafes  ;D

Welsh Rambler - I recon it would be a fab walk in the autumn when all the trees are turning  O0

lostme1 - I feel your pain with the clay mud, it's the same where I live with chalk and clay.  Potters don't call water and clay "slip" for nothing  ;D

An enjoyable read, thanks Mel.  Nice photos too! 8)   I was, at one point, considering joining you all for a couple of days.....but then I saw the weather forecast and thought better of it!
It did look like you all had fun though, despite the rain  O0

That was a fantastic read, Mel. Great write up, really enjoyed it and had a good chuckle.  O0

Looks like you all still had a good time, even if the weather was ropey - certainly a better time than the goats and the cows, who all look decidedly glum!  ;D

Still enjoyed the weekend in spite of the rain,
Great trip report, must do this again sometime when it stays sunny for more than 5 mins.

Cheers Chris.  'Twas good to see you and Andy again.

If it's any consolation, the day you guys went home, it was lovely and sunny and I had a nice 5 mile walk to the castle and then across to the waterfalls  8)
