Lightweight shoes to wear on campsite?
« on: 22:13:43, 15/09/19 »
I'm looking to buy a pair of lightweight shoes of some sort to wear after I finished hiking for the day. Any suggestions please?

Beach shoes. Available for under £10. Can be worn in and around the tent, to go to the pub or when in a B&B. They are also good for stream crossings.

Crocs, very light, can be used for river crossings, dry quickly and suprisingly warm

I also use Crocs, brilliant and doesn’t matter if they get wet.

Just recently bought a pair of Aasics mesh trainers for use around camp, hotels and river crossings. Very comfortable after a day in boots. Used a pair of Regatta sandals for years

Another vote for Crocs - great around the campsite as well as around the house.

Thanks for your suggestions, I haven't made my mind up yet but Ronin83s suggestion looks interesting.

I love them. They're sometimes known as Chinese chucks, as in converse.
They're flexible, grippy, zero drop, cheap and comfy. A total departure from boots. Cold in the winter tho

What's wring with, flip flops, jandals or thongs - depending on your country of origin?  (UK, NZ or Aus respectively)

Aye.  You're not a proper mountain man until you kicked steps up a snow slope in flip flops!  I'm almost there - I've done it in open toed sandals more than once, even did it in the dark on several occasions, fair makes yours toes tingle.

Thanks for the suggestions, the more I look the more types come up on my screen. I decided to go by price (cheap) so its either beach shoes or the 'Chinese chucks'. Decide tomorrow.

You can get cheap versions of Crocs (I have some for pottering around the garden, bought from Amazon, I think). Probably not as comfortable or long-lasting as the real thing, but adequate if you're not planning on walking far in them.
