On Saturday I did the same walk as Easter Monday but this time I took my camera. The sheep were lying on the footpath that leads to the golf course again and I had to disturb them like I did last Monday walking along the path.

Lambs and mams on the footpath

It was a lovely morning, sunny but with a cool breeze. I walked through the golf course on the ROW, no deer about

Warwick Moor Wood looking more green than it did a few weeks ago

The North Pennines from the road to Wetheral

A bit of road walking to get to Wetheral but it is pleasant enough.

Wetheral Parish Church

A small patch of bluebells

That is the river Eden in view. I walked along the riverside path to reach Wetheral Woods.

Bluebells aplenty

On the riverside path

White flowers

Not sure what they are called? I was now on the way to Wetheral Priory Gatehouse and back to Wetheral.

Back at Wetheral

On the footpath next to the railway line

The footpath eventually crosses the railway line and this path joins the path near Parklands

What you looking at?

View to the northern fells

I thought it was Carrick Fell and High Pike when I took the shot but I think might be Blencathra on the left and Carrock Fell on the right?

More bluebells

Not a bad walk, 9 miles. Home - Carlisle Golf Course - Warwick Moor Wood - Wetheral - River Eden path - Wetheral Priory Gatehouse - Wetheral - Railway line path - Parklands - Wetheral Road - Home

On Sunday I did the same walk but in reverse. Anyone who wants a trip report can read the above backwards  :D

I did take some pics though.

Sunlit Bluebells in Wetheral Woods

Babby lambs near Carlisle Golf Club

Babby lamb with no mates

Sunbathing lambs

Another lone lamb

There were lots of lambs about

Mother and lambs

Third time in a row now for this walk. During the walk I spotted a footpath I've not been on before, I will investigate that next weekend. I still won't drive anywhere to walk even though I am as frustrated as everyone else at doing the same walks. I have sympathy for people who live in a city or built up area when they have to walk a long way to find a green area, they have it the hardest.

Lovely, particularly the lambs.
He's not baby lamb no mates, he's self isolating.

I think Blencathra on the left but if I wasn't sure I'd have asked you.

Lovely pics April.

Coincidentally my elder brother lived in Wetheral back in the very early 1980s - in a tiny cottage right next to the river - you had to walk down quite a steep slippery path for a couple of hundred yards to reach it, which was quite an achievement if we'd spent the evening in the pub.

Great photos of a lovely walk, April - isn't it amazing how quickly the trees are greening up?

:) Was there 99 steps to go down? I seem to remember going down them a year or two ago somewhere near the railway station. You do know I will have to go there at the weekend now and take photos of all the houses next to the river  :D

isn't it amazing how quickly the trees are greening up?

I know, the difference in a week is staggering  :)

I see Karl didn't bother trying to name the fells  ;)

I can't remember steps, I do remember beer and moss. At that time the cottage had one bedroom and no inside bathroom, but I think it was done up later and made more habitable. Sorry, but it's a long time agooooooo. ;D ;D . would love to see pics!!
