Am I being totally sceptical that this is nothing less than a feint move?

A Trojan Horse ?

If the CoL is denied/rejected then they will need to apply for full planning permission.

... which would then allow them to do..... what?

Worth remembering that Lowther Estate wanted to develop White Moss a couple of years back and their plan was thrown out.

I do now wonder if this whole idea and the resulting permit applications etc. are nothing to do with this location but rather a cheap way to see what they could get away with elsewhere.

That wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest! And referencing Strider's White Moss comment, it does make me wonder if, because that got rejected, they're trying to generate the "tourism" with this current proposal to justify re-submitting those plans at a later date  :-\

It would depend on what they submit in that application and whether or not it was approved.  It may differ from the current proposal.

Is that no thanks you don't want to donate or no thanks you don't want to object as you think it would be a lovely idea to have houseboats on Grasmere.

Though I suppose that those are the same thing.

There is a protest planned for Feb 1st in Grasmere, we will be going.

It doesn't look like Skippy 2019 will be there  ;)

Good article in The Guardian below

After reading the Guardian article it still fits in with my view that given a chance uncontrolled capitalism will destroy, or at least ruin everything that anyone holds dear! Doing it now, in the throws of leaving Europe, is I suspect for the 'capitalists' really good timing, anyone who opposes them I'm sure will be labelled as 'leftie loonies,' 'not patriotic,' 'standing in the way of progress' and so on. The UK needs trade deals, this is a natural way to help make the country to get on its feet again, 'to get Brexit done,' to 'boost earnings from tourism' etc!!! If you love the UK, you should go for it!!!!

It appears that the protest on 1 February is now becoming a more general one, with No-Go Gondola and Friends of the Lake District now becoming involved.  FOLD have issued quite a damning critique of the LDNPA.  I think Terry Abraham is now also involved, which is good news from a publicity point of view, in my opinion.  All parties are asking for as big an attendance as possible, so me and one or two of the offspring, and maybe  devil dog or two are going to go up.  Not sure how much political impact Penny the Pup will have, though if Richard Leafe leaves his slippers lying around he'll not see them again.

I'm hoping to take a walk up Loughrigg, or thereabouts, prior to the march to enthuse my son (daughter is already battle hardened) as to why the protest is so important - that view at first light is one to lift the spirits - probably less so if there are 10 floating caravans in the way. If anyone fancies joining us, feel free.

With just illustrates the stupidity of the planning laws - IIRC "spoiling my view" is not normally grounds for objection.
