Mine ran out in March. I never renewed it at the time because I don't really need any kit just now. I knew that when I did need to buy something you just pay the same £5. So far I have visited two stores and bought nothing.
Its a crazy system in my view.My card has run out but if I wanted a cheap item such as a pair of socks I would not shop at Go because it would cost me £5 more than the purchase price.

Mine ran out ages ago but I don't see the point of renewing it until I actually want to buy something.
The thing is, unless the saving goes some way to justifying the card fee then I probably wouldn't renew.

(eg, I wouldn't pay a fiver to renew my card in order to save 50p on a bottle of Nikwax).

I wasn't aware of their flexible pricing policy. I've never bothered with them because they've always seemed quite expensive online for specific items I've been looking for
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're NOT all out to get me.

I went into a Go Outdoors recently.  I went in, to enquire about the weights of rucksacks for
wildcamping.   They didn't know the weights so when the guy suggested a few bags that might
be ok to use, I asked how did he know which one was the lightest, he said... by lifting them and
seeing which one was...

but the point is...

I really wanted to know the actual weights...

I could have just lifted them to see...

So, I will continue to use the specialist walking shops I usually use where I can ask questions
and have a chat about the stuff I might be buying.

Going off-topic, I know, but it's frustrating that so often, products are described as "lightweight" but in the published specs, no actual weight is given.

Exactly.  Lighweight in terms of a small car, but not ideal for wildcamping.

Agreed! This is a quote from the Equipment page on my website, published 5 years ago:

"Why do some suppliers list tent features (or other items, such as stoves) without including any weights?   This should be one of the most important points!  Some of those that do list the weights do not stock any that I would regard as light, while others claim theirs are light when they are anything but.  It suggests to me that they have not seriously considered this side of things or, worse still, that their main interest is  taking your money.  After all, they will not be the ones carrying it.  Do remember that you will be."

However, I do think the matter has improved a little bit since then.
