2 man, £200, less than 2kg
« on: 21:55:48, 01/12/17 »
oh, and available for Christmas, apart from that the title says it all.

Looking for a new tent for my daughter 2-3 season, Scout camps, DofE etc. any suggestions?

WILD COUNTRY Zephyros 2 Man Technical Tent looks like a possible at the moment, has ok reviews, good weight and there are bargains to be had.
Or possibly the Alpkit Ordos 2, very light but fewer reviews.

Ridge, we had a Zeph 2, well actually we had 2, one was the lightweight larger version.
It is a great tent, good value for money. The reason we ended up getting another tent was because we wanted more head height.

I don't know anything about the Alpkit Ordos.

At the moment we have an MSR Elixir 2, £200 but over 2kg. We love it because of the head height right across the tent, it is very spacious and I don't mind beefy having to carry the extra weight  :D

I have a Force Ten Helium 2 two-person tent which I bought for just under £200. It's a good tent. Weight is just 1.4kg and I believe the headroom is slightly better than the Zephyros 2. See review here:

But I don't know if this model is still available. There's an ultralight version on the Force Ten website (1.33kg) but they don't give prices and they don't sell online.
Make the most of the available light

Cave and Crag have a retirement sale on at the moment 30% off everything.

They have this light weight tent
https://www.cave-crag.co.uk/tents/lightweight-tents/vango-force-ten-xenon-ul-2-tent#product_tabs_description_tabbed

at £227.50 reduced from £325 which looks like a good buy.

Be quick if you want one though only showing two left now!
Enjoy every sandwich

How many times will the tent be used do you think? If it has a limited shelf life why not take a look at the Naturehike site, loads of choice for less than £100.

Thanks for the replies. The Zeph 2 is looking promising, particularly as Nevisport have it for £120, but I will investigate the others.

GWM, it will probably only get about 15 nights a year but I do like things to last. It is a new tent for my daughter but the one it is replacing is older than she is.

Millets have got the Wild Country Zephyros 2 Man on sale at £105 with free delivery (NB Offer ends tomorrow) https://www.millets.co.uk/tents-camping/108811-wild-country-zephyros-2-man-technical-tent-green.html

Difficult to tell due to the devious wording and what constitutes a "sale" item but it looks like 6% cashback is also available from both TopCashback and Quidco for an online purchase if you go via either of their sites.

I have a Zephyros 2 as well - great little tent, particularly for the money - though I use it as a one man.  You might want to add a few pegs - the ones that came with mine would have bent if pushed into plasticine.

Thanks again. I think the Zeph2 has it. It will mostly be used as a one person but sometimes for 2.

Terra Nova currently have used zephyros 2 in their sale for £100, if it helps.

Thanks for the heads up Stube, I'm not sure that it's a good enough discount for a 2nd hand tent.

I have now ordered a Zeph2, thanks for all the advice.

Looks like Terra Nova didn't do their homework if they're asking £100 for a used tent that Millets were selling brand new for £105 up until yesterday!!!

But I wonder just how "Used" they are? Could they be like the "used" £50 Go Outdoors camp bed that I bought for £35 on eBay, that looked pristine to me, or like the "Used, good as new" books you get on Amazon that are often new and in fact unused?

Even if they have just been up in a shop they have been crawled in and out of and because they are selling them second hand any guarantees are worthless. They are still generally available for £115 which I think is an extra £15 well spent.
