Post by: Slogger on 15:28:35, 04/02/20
The Spine Race and Challenger 2021 sold out within a few hours of entries being opened on Sunday! Waiting lists are also packed out! This caught many unawares and are now pinning their hopes on withdrawals.Scott Gilmour the race founder has also indicated that he will be leaving the race within the next 6 months due to his wife expecting again and living in Norway presenting its own issues.

Will the full Spine Race be starting on Sun 10th Jan 2021? I want to take time off work for the next one.

Has anyone marshalled this?  Tempted to do it next year - think it would be a great experience seeing the absolute grit all of these runners are pushing themselves forward with.

I think Slogger and susamb definitely has, he'll be along soon to any thread that says Spine Race in the title.

Do we know if some people are invited to race?

I was on one of the Safety Teams last year, was great fun and really enjoyable to see it from the other side, definitely recommend it if you have the experience  O0

I was lucky too, we were one of the two SSTs leapfrogging the leaders, so we spent a fair bit of time (though they didn't hang around long) with the likes of Jasmine Paris, Eugeni, Eoin, Gymn Stokes etc, all of them legends in their own right.

Yeah, I have been on volunteer duties three times, all on SST (Spine Safety Team) last three days 2015, full week 2016, and three days Spine Fusion/Flare 2017. All great experinece seeing the race from the other side and if anything less sleep than whilst actually racing. Only winners are invited to enter next years race free of charge.

I've thrown my hat in the ring anyway - would be nice to help out as I'm not that far away from the PW.
