« on: 16:13:41, 22/08/12 »
Hi There,

Can anyone recommend any dog friendly walks in Cornwall, 5-12 Miles, for someone with a severe fear of heights
?

Many thanks

Stuart

South West Coast Path - some of the easy bits.

Brown Willy

Saints Way (2 days or 3 if you want to take it easy)

Camel Trail

Portreath to Devoran

Oh, he's spoiled the joke, now by editing it!

I've always wanted to go and have a look at Men an Tol, because it's just plain weird.
This walk is just 3 miles, but I'm sure you could stretch it out a bit:

It does take in the delightfully-named 'Ding Dong Mine', though.

Tinners way - St Ives towards Lands end - this avoids the coast but you get coastal views - you can return on any number of paths start and finish in many places.

there is an excellent walk from Bosigran carpark north of St Just. - near the old tin mine - Rosemergy on the map- which can then take in the prehistoric sites of  Maen an tol, Nine ladies stone circle, Chun Quoit, Chun Castle, loads of other standing stones. I think there is a guidebook which links ancient sites in shortish (<10mile) walks.

Just get a map and plan - if you keep off the coast you will be unlikely to meet and long drops.

Was in the library today looking at travel books and remembered your post when I saw this book - Cornwall Walking on the level by Norman & June Buckley.

The Portreath to Devoran walk mentioned above is a coast to coast cycle trail along an old mining tramway.  We hired bikes and cycled it from Devoran where we were staying at the end of June.  Just a warning that there were a lot of cyclists on it and not many walkers so may not be the best thing to do with a dog.

Hi Stuart.
Many of the best walks in Cornwall are on the coastal path, but most of these you may find uncomfortable. There is a site called iwalknorthcornwall which lists many walks in your distance range and I think it may have a dog friendly list.
