My July trip saw me venture to south Donegal. I had climbed Slievetooey a few years ago but it was a cloudy day then and I decided to return on a sunny day. My walk was circular starting from Maghera car park. I walked up the road to the saddle Slievetooey shares with Maum. Turning left I walked over heathery pathless terrain before reaching Maum's summit. There was an impressive view towards the Derryveagh peaks in North Donegal. I descended back to the saddle picking up a waymarked trail to Crockaun. Upon summitting views opened up of South Donegal and Sligo mountains. According to the map there was a forest close to the summit which I could not see at the summit so I ventured westwards and obtained a good view of the forest called Largybrack. I dropped down to the waymarked trail again before ascending Slievetooey, the final peak of the round. The better views were in the distance with the immediate foreground somewhat dreary. I descended off the beaten track climbing over some fences before dropping down to the road. Total distance was 19km. The best view was reserved to last as the Maghera valley opened up when I descended Slievetooey. I'll split the photos over two reports.
