Post by: Seferix on 15:53:37, 02/01/18

A short walk from Long Melford to Kentwell Hall and along part of the Stour Valley Long Distance Path in the December snow.

Do take a look at the video as there are some beautiful aerial shots of Kentwell Hall and the surrounding Suffolk Countryside covered in snow.

Distance: 6.03km (3.75 Miles)
Time: 2 Hours

You have some really good photos on your blog Seferix, thanks for sharing.  That's a great video too - Beefy's got some competition!

Yes, lovely photos and drone footage. There seems to be a growing band of great video creators on this Forum.  Perhaps someone should organise an annual Oscars Award for the best one(s)? ;)

Great photos of your house Seferix  ;)

Nice vid too, some lovely drone shots  O0

With you mentioning Sanstead, how far were you away from the airport? I assume it was far enough away for you not to have the "no fly zone" message on your drone that beefy gets when he is near Brampton, Talkin Tarn, there is a small airport (Carlisle Airport) a few miles away or if he is under the RAF fly zone anywhere near Haltwhistle.

Two different places April, Stansted Airport is in Essex, the village of Stanstead is in Suffolk. I would guess they're about 30-40 miles apart.

I only know this as I've flown from Stansted, and driven through the badlands of Suffolk.

:) When it comes to anywhere south of the Peak District my geographical knowledge dwindles to almost none ;)

Thank you for the great comments everyone!  :)

Yes Stanstead is a small village just near Long Melford. A good 40 miles or so from the Airport of a similar name.

Haha I wish I lived there! Technically I am one of their neighbours though!

Lovely video footage and great photos in the trip report, Seferix.  O0   I love how the snow brings out all the detail in the landscape, furrowed fields etc. - and the blue skies were just perfect for illuminating it. Great stuff!   :)

Great to see a trip report from my neck of the woods. I live the other side of Suffolk near Woodbridge, but have walked around Long Melford and Kentwell a few times, not in the snow though.

April, don’t worry, I haven’t heard of Stanstead either and I live in Suffolk. I think it is a very small village though!  ;D
