Haystacks OK for a dog?
« on: 08:12:00, 22/08/17 »
Good morning

Learnt a lot from this forum so thank you to all who have contributed.

We're planning on climbing Haystacks and would welcome advice as to its suitability for dogs. We have a cocker spaniel and she has been with us for Cat Bells and each of the Yorkshire three peaks which she has managed without problem - although very tired afterwards.

Thanks.

Ian

IMHO, if you walked up Haystacks via Wharnscale Bottom (the path running south east beneath Fleetwith Pike) then that would present no problem to your four-legged friend.

The route up Haystacks from Scarth Gap could be a little trickier for Rover, given that there are a few small 'scrambly' bits. I think a dog could make it but I've not taken one up myself
I'm on the internet!

A friend and I took the terrier up Haystacks via Scarth Gap and  back down via Warnscale Bottom t'other day - he had no trouble.

No bother for a fit dog.
