Can you help me buy some boots please?
« on: 13:17:54, 09/09/17 »
I want to buy walking boots. To walking on the mountains. All season. Now I'm going to Tatra mountains on december.
What boots should I buy to be:
-price not too high. About 100 pounds i think.
-very good quality.
-not very heavy. This is not good for my joints, walking 9 hours per day in heavy boots.
-maybe some shock absorb? I like to have heel absorb.
-be good enaugh on all seasons

I dont go on realy hard ways with heavy backpack, just normal. With light backpack.

Problem is that i have to buy online, in my town is no any shop with trekking boots.
I was thinking for example on this :
Boreal Klamath Gris for 105 pounds. I cant send link  :)

But because I'm newbie, I'm really open on yours recomendations.

Yes i do, but no for Boreal  :P
I asked just a question. As i told I'm open on recomendation. But after your post I'm thinking, that boreal does not do good boots.

What would you recomend?

I walk up and down mountain paths and use all leather Berghaus Superlights. I'm happy with my choice.

In the past I have worn Hi Tec boots and Gelert boots.  Both very comfortable, grippy and waterproof.  Both under £50. I couldn't tell you how lightweight they are.  They aren't "all season" (crampon compatible).  My current footwear is shoes.

Footwear is a very personal thing and what's comfortable for one person could cripple another in agony and it would be wrong of me to recommend a brand as I do not have your feet  O0

Are you based in the UK? If so it may be a good idea to visit an outdoor store in another town that sells decent boots. Buying boots online is not the best way to go  as sizes vary between manufacturers.

I'm one of those people who will try on in the shop and will then check the internet prices. I will then offer the shop to price match, (I'm happy to pay up to 5%-10% more) if they say OK I will buy (this worked with Snow and Rock last time) if not I buy on line.

Yes guys, you are right. I will go to peterborough and check. Online is too risky.
I will check tkmaxx is well, maybe some good promotion.

PS:Any way, in tht price that boreal for me looks the best heh.
PS2: I dont know what going on, but when i was looking for cheap boots, i have found very weird site:
slavodesign .co.uk, u go on your own risky. Looks very weird and have all top boots for 50 pounds, every sizes xD Like zamberlan etc.
Can you somebody tell me what is it?

A couple of questions…

Does the business have a traceable UK address visible on the site?
Does it have a traceable landline telephone number visible on the site?
Is the English good – spelling and grammar - in the business policy document and terms and conditions?
Does it have a https://   prefix?

If you can’t answer “yes” to all of these questions then don’t touch it with a bargepole – it is likely to be a scam site which will not send you your goods once you have parted with your hard earned cash.

Hope this helps  O0

Looks like a scam website or a rank amateur at best. It's an offence not to include your registered company address in the UK on your website so it's breaking the law right there by the look of it. That's not a good start.

As for Boreal Klamath Gris, never heard of them but they're 2-3 season light-use, suede/fabric boots so don't fit your criteria for all season or mountain use.

I'd guess the Tatra mountains in December are pretty snowy. So I'd have thought you'd be looking for something to deal with that?

Hi Hardbic, funny you should mention the Tatry, I was looking at staying in Zapokane next spring :)

As for boots, I have a pair of Berghaus Hillmasters that are great for winter, but they are a bit on the heavy side, but I guess that depends what you personally class as heavy. I have had worse! As with all boots, I would advise trying on or at least be prepared (and leave time) to return them if bought online.
