water on the mosedale horseshoe?
« on: 18:53:29, 17/07/17 »

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone could help with a quick question.

When walking from Overbeck Bridge – Bell Rib – Great Door – Yewbarrow – Dore Head – Red Pike – Scoat Fell – Steeple – Black Crag (Pillar)  – Pillar –Looking Stead – Black Sails Pass – Wasdale Head – Overbeck  are there any water sources between bell rib and pillar? Also are there any water sources between pillar and black sail pass? I'm guessing the answer is no, but just thought I'd check!

thanks!

There are tarns on Yewbarrow, tarns at Dore Head (use of water filter advisable!) and there are a few streams on the way up Red Pike but depending on how much rain there has been you may have to divert left from the path up Red Pike to access the other streams, that are marked on the OS map. We have camped there at Dore Head and got our water from those marked on the map. I can't remember seeing any water between Pillar and Black Sail except for the tarns just before the pass.
