How many?
« on: 14:30:07, 02/01/21 »
How many walks have you got that you have yet to get round to?
I must have about thirty in the drawer, cut out from magazines, that I haven't done.
And about the same number that I have done.

For me about 10, all in France. I wouldn't mind having another go at the UK Pennine Journey again, but this time doing it clockwise.

I have hundreds, I would love to do things like the Pennine way, West Highland way, The limestone way, etc. but I don't think I will ever be able to do them. Not sure my knee would hold out doing a distance walk and the last thing I want is for it to totally give out, miles from anywhere. So I will just have to contend with my short walks.

Guide books, magazine cuttings (I have digitised them all), bookmarked online walks sites, individual walks found on the web...
More than I can ever do in my lifetime - even if I was 20 years younger!

I've got loads I'd love to do and loads I'd love to do again.
But the second of the 2 big walking achievements that I've wanted to do since I was a teenager I did this year which feels kind of odd.

I only have one walk i want to do this year.  From my house near Newquay 230 miles around the south west coast path to Plymouth to raise money for some 'niccies' for the nurses staffroom at Derriford Hospital, after they saved my life from cancer a couple of years ago.  Had got the last two weeks in March all lined up for this, just hoping that this vile virus doesnt derail things.
Other than that i just normally 'go with the flow'.
one step then another then another then a bench - please?

I had a depressing moment the other day when I found my list of walking ambitions for 2020.  I like to do an LDP every year, but I also have a couple that I am doing a day or two at a time when the opportunity arises, and also have those walks I have cut out from magazines, read a TR about, got interested in when watching outdoor things on telly or mooching round the map collection.Transferred 2020 wholesale to 2021, hoping it won't be 2022. I've reached the age when the hills may always be there, but I might not be!

I have 2 or 3 long distance paths that I actually plan to do one day, plus quite a few walks which would be nice to do if I had the chance.I also still have about 80 MBA bothies to visit once they're open again which means at least 80 nights in the hills individually or strung together as part of a longer trek.

I have mental notes of mountains that I particularly want to visit, and walks that I want to do, but no list as such.

For example:

Penrith to Windermere over High Street, with a wild camp thrown in.
A grand circuit of Upper Eskdale; again with a wild camp.
Foinaven and Arkle (NW Highlands)
Camping in Coire Mhic Fhearchair (Torridon)
Bidean Nan Bian
A 2 day circuit of the hills around Buttermere
Multi day circuit of the Cairngorms (route to be decided)
Brecon Beacons traverse...

..and so it goes on - not a list, but the possibilities are endless.

 ;D :D

- 2-3 day walk over the hills around Moffat Dale.
- losing myself in the Fisherfield and Letterewe Forests
- train to Blair Atholl, up Glen Tilt then over the Lairig Ghru and down to Aviemore
- A grand circuit of the hills along the Ullswater watershed
- Craignaw and Craiglee in Galloway
- a return to my former haunts in the Carneddau

That's enough for now!

I've got around thirty or so walks I've plotted on Viewranger that I haven't done yet, and there are lots of others I have in mind.  I love looking at my maps and seeing how I can link up paths into a good walk.  I get ideas for walks from books and the internet.  And so it goes on .....     :)

Not too many.  A couple started, with Mrs G, that we would like to complete some day.  SWCP and Kennet and Avon Canal.

Other than that I just have a quite small and modest  list of Mountains I would like to climb if circumstance skill sets and fitness allow.
