Tour du Mont Blanc
« on: 20:01:53, 23/07/19 »
To anyone thinking about doing this trail but is still a bit unsure I say do it. I got back about a week ago and I had the most amazing time doing it, everyday the views left me speechless. Yes it was hard work going up all the mountain passes but I got to see things only other hikers of the trail will ever see (unless you can afford a helicopter to take you there).

I spent 9 days walking and had a few rest days during and spent a few days in Chamonix after, I could easily have spent another month in Chamonix tbf

So glad you enjoyed it, such a good route. Did you stay in any refuges?

It was amazing, to get over it I'm having to start planning the next one!

I didn't stay in any refuges, there was a bunch of us camping that met up with each other every evening while we were on the same schedule, towards the end with rest days a few of us ended up a day ahead or behind, but there was always cool people to talk to

Glad you enjoyed it, and I agree that every day has its “wow” moments. I liked Chamonix that much I returned a few months later, rented an apartment for a week and did some walks and just chilled.

I also want to do the TMB again but it got me interested in other trails.

Good idea, the Walkers Haute Route is excellent. I didn't manage to finish though. I started off well (mid July) but when I go to a Refuge way up above Verbier there was no way forward, snow had fallen a few days before and no one had been able to get through the next stage of the journey. So I had to turn around and work out a different route for myself.

I've skied the Haute route but never thought about walking it. Which way does it go, not over the Grand Combine I assume.
