It's a little late for one of these, but if you're in the area you can go along.

Nordic Walking is a great exercise, more intense than ordinary walking giving you more of a workout over the whole body while not being as intense or running or working out in a gym. An hour or so in your local area is enough to get real benefit from so it's something you can get out and do at lunch times etc.

Nordic Walking UK and the British Heart Foundation are doing a couple of events to raise money and promote Nordic Walking as an healthy activity. It's hoped these two events will be successful and further events will take place at different locations. The BHF details are here:

Quote
Type:Walks

When:20th or 27th September

Where:Campbell Park or Horsham Park

Nordic walking is one of the fastest growing fitness activities in the world and is effective for both prevention and recovery from heart disease. More energetic than ordinary walking,Nordic walkers use poles that help propel them along, using their upper body muscles as well as their legs. This walk is a one mile curcuit in the lovely Campbell Park. Participants can choose their distance and how long they wish to walk. The most competitive can take part in the Heart Mile Challenge awarded to the individual and the team who collect the most Heart Miles over the 4 hour duration. The event is free to enter but we do rely on your sponsorship. If you are unable to get sponsors then please consider making a donation.
There are walks in Milton Keynes (on 20th September) or Horsham (on 27th September).
