Best of Sligo: first post-lockdown trip
« on: 19:40:35, 12/07/20 »
Last week-end saw me travel to the west of Ireland to visit Sligo. Low level cloud and strong winds forced to me to pursue lower level walks. On Saturday I visited Rosses point on the wild Atlantic way and Strandhill. On Sunday morning I climbed Knocknarea before breakfast before visiting three forests later in the day around Lough Gill: Hazelwood, Deer Park and Slish Wood. I really wanted to climb Benbulbin but that will have to wait until a later date. Here are some of pictures I took:

Some lovely atmospheric pics there Henry  O0

I like the contrast of the sunlit path through the woodland compared to the angry skies of the more open views.

Thanks Mel, Sunday was very atmospheric. When I climbed Knocknarea that morning Benbulbin was in cloud, Lough gill was in haze and Ballysadare bathed in sunshine. Never seen that combination before in one day over one county :)

Lovely atmospheric pictures from the Emerald Isle, Henry. The 'View to Benbulbin from Knocknarea' particularly appeals, the mist covered table topped mountain across the bay.

I know nothing about the area around Sligo, so thanks for posting.

Thanks April and beefy, not sure if Queen Maeve was real or a myth. Hazelwood was a nice walk, the photo of the lake can be obtained from the car park without walking. :)
