I had forgotten my camera so no photos from me this week. We had a long walk following The Pennine Way for the most part from near Brun Clough Car Park. We revisited the route of a few weeks ago to Black Moss Reservoir, Blakely Clough and the lovely waterfall near Wesseden Reservoir. We dropped down to the reservoir but this time we turned right rejoining the Pennine Way toward Wessenden Head. It wasn't a bad day, sunny spells but blustery. There were a lot of people about with it being a Saturday so it wasn't as peaceful a walk as the last time we were near Wessenden Reservoir. After we crossed the Holmfirth Road there was a long ascent up to Black Hill or Soldiers Lump. We left the Pennine Way on the ROW north west over Dean Head Moss. The path was visible at first but it disappeared when we reached all the groughs and boggy bits and it seemed to take ages walking the two miles to the Holmfirth Road. That route is now on the Banned List. The path on the other side of the road toward Black Moss Reservoir was paved for the most part thank goodness, we were tired by now it had been a long walk. From the reservoir we retraced our steps back to the car.
The route was - Layby near Brun Clough - Pennine Way - Black Moss  Reservoir - Wessenden Lodge - Wessenden Head -  Black Hill - Dean Head Moss - Featherbed Moss - Black Moss Reservoir - Layby near Brun Clough. About 13.5 miles and 600m/2000ft of ascent. It took 8 hours and 15 minutes including 2 lunch stops.

That was great, looks like a perfect day out. Though I did worry that you were going to loose April in to the quagmire.

That explains why you two are walking in the pennines at the moment, they are paying you to stay away from the Lakes to encourage others to go. ;)
