Water-proof or -resistant shoes
« on: 11:09:19, 04/10/06 »
I am thinking of taking up Nordic walking instead of road running and need to get the gear. I like the idea of lightweight shoes even for my current walks.
I walk coastal paths a lot, often in the colder/wetter months. I generally wear hiking boots or trainers if it's dry and not too tough going, but coastal paths can be pretty muddy in places.
I have found that specific Nordic-walking shoes can be water-resistant, waterproof (only a few makes, usually Gortex lined) or neither. Any views on which is best? I am tempted by waterproof but if water gets over the top (easy since these don't cover the ankles) I assume my feet will get wet anyway, and perhaps take longer to dry.
