Yes figs I think. Looks like the leaves have dropped off but the figs are still hanging on till hard frosts. They do grow in Yorkshire but don't get to a great size.

I agree with Pleb, certainly figs.I had a fig tree when we lived in Middlesex. It sort of forms next years fruit in the previous Autumn.Loved the smell of the very sappy branches when pruning them.

They used to grow down by the River Don in Sheffield because of the extra heat from the steelworks...I wonder if they still do.

By pure coincidence I spotted figs today on a bare tree in a garden in Greenford, Middlesex. I think it's the first time I've seen any in Britain. Wasn't your old tree was it, JimBob?
