Seems to be a bad place for accidents. If you Google Scarth Gap it brings up stories of numerous rescues.

Yes, that particular path is quite steep and very uneven, I simply wasn't taking enough care  :(

Will have to do it again another time  O0

Was it the descent that I said to take care on?

Sounds like you will live to fight another day Jon. Best wishes. Am guessing you came to grief on the horrible scree stuff coming down from Seat. Nearly went head first myself there in 2013. All the best

Not quite, managed that, it was on the final descent into Scarth Gap.

Jon, were you on your own? How did the MRT get called out? Any idea yet of how long you will be in Preston hospital?
How is the face?

There for the grace of god go all of us on here. I consider myself lucky not to have come a cropper as yet. Accidents happen to anyone.

It must be a very serious injury for you to be in hospital for such a long time. I had spinal decompression surgery on my neck in Nov 17, where 3 vertebrae had the lamina removed to create space for my spinal cord. I was in and out in 27 hours.

The issue was more the fact that overall it wasn't too bad, and I kept being bumped down the list for the only one emergency theatre.
