I've just read the tr, it's such a shame you had horrible weather, you'd never guess it was May! I would have stayed in the tea room so I think you're both brave to walk up a mountain in those conditions.

Well done both you and I'm very glad you both got down safely  O0

ah but you dont know what was said  ;D   Someting about sad people who carry 2 GPS s or summat like the guy revising the wainwrights books ( he actually brings 3 bless him)

Well now you mention it

GPSMAP 60cs Primary
Garmin Foretrex 101 in rucksack (backup)
iPhone 4 running Viewranger with extended battery pack (for OS map visual)
Plus of course I have map and compass.  If I get lost it'll be proper lost  ;D

But I have to say having the big fellow Dave along side made a huge difference cheers mate. O0 O0

Good job nothing went wrong then  ::) ;D ;D :D

Seriously Mick, pleased for you and hope to get out on a walk with you soon  O0

(Do me a favour though, don't walk faster than me, it's embarrassing enough being at the back as it is  8) )

Must be a piscean thing  ;)

I do understand actually. It could have got really scary up there if our gps had failed, it s easy to see how people perish on the fells, it can be sunny i the valley but - 4 on the tops and horizontal snow/sleet and no visibility and in those conditions you could easily get lost and exhausted .......

As someone who uses their GPS as a primary Navigation aid, it makes sense to carry spares.  I also have some of those Torres Sleeves and a Gilet for the -4 days in summer. They fold down well and can be worn on top of everything IN THE RAIN!  O0

Strange!!!!.......... :-\ .I seem to have forgotten that I had to twist your arm to get you to eat it.
But I do remember going into shock as a Yorkshire man paid the parking fee (no wonder we had such wet weather.) ;D :D :D :D
But on a serious note it was a good way to finish the day. O0
