Two TV programmes on the Lakes this weekend
« on: 18:08:24, 11/04/20 »
These caught my eye when looking through the schedules. For those of us who are missing the hills!
Tomorrow 6pm Ch5, Britain by Balloon - a 15 mile journey through the heart of the Lakes by balloon, taking off from Thirlmere. It does last nearly 2 hours though!
Monday 7pm BBC4, the Great Mountain Sheep Gatherer - leading sheep off Scafell Pike to the valley. Again a bit long at 1 hr 40mins!
Think I may record them and watch when it’s raining and miserable.

OoooOOoohhh, if the balloon-y one is like the canal boat one I recorded/watched a few months ago (is that something I should have admitted to?  :-\  ), then it'll be lovely and relaxing.

Cheers for the heads-up from me an' all  O0

Thanks RR I'll have a look at these later.
It doesn't matter how long they are, the more Lakes the better and it's not as if we've anywhere to go is it.

I caught the tail end of the narrowboat journey - very tranquil.

I shall record the balloon flight and then watch it later at a higher wind speed  :)
Mrs N and I had a trip in a balloon over the Cotswolds for her birthday, very enjoyable - it is my 4th favourite form of aviation.

Started watching the balloon one, not much of a plotline. Gave up after 30 minutes.

You and me both Owen. I gave up after 15 minutes. I even rang a friend to check whether my TV was on the blink!

I really enjoyed it in an "arghh, you're tormenting my soul" sort of way.  God this lockdown needs to be over.

Trying to work out which hills I've been on was fun too.

But no, lovely and relaxing and now I want to do a balloon ride  :)

Ballooning also feeds the nosey parker in us.  You get to see in people's back gardens and behind the high walls.  You can hear a surprising amount too.
