Here are some pics from the local walks we did in the past week and a bit.
30 Oct 20
We are off for 10 days and this was a quick local walk on Friday afternoon. We parked at the layby near Wetheral.
Corby Bridge
The river level was high and we had to use the road rather than the riverside path to Corby Bridge, we discovered the river had swallowed up the path. We joined the riverside path toward Wetheral Woods.
Halloween in Wetheral
Once through Wetheral Woods we walked by the Priory Gatehouse where skeletons have appeared. We saw children in Halloween costumes walking about Wetheral so there must have been a Halloween trail. Our walk was 3.3 miles 50m ascent. Wetheral layby - Corby Bridge - Wetheral Woods - Gatehouse Priory - 99 steps - layby.
31 Oct
We parked at Capon Tree and walked the bridleway to Gelt Woods.

River Gelt
We stopped for our lunch here; it is a lovely place to sit. Our walk was 4.4 miles with 240m of ascent. I was working Sunday so no walk for me. Monday we were off to Wooler to stay in a camping pod for a couple of nights; I will do a separate TR for that trip.
5 Nov
We'd parked near the railway station at Wetheral on a dual purpose journey, to pick up meds from the surgery and exercise. It is only a mile and a half from Scotby Village so not a long journey for Lockdown Take 2.

We carried on to St Constantine's Caves then back along the Eden to have some lunch

We walked back to Wetheral then up to Parklands and back along the railway path to Wetheral. 4.8 miles and 134m of ascent.

Another dual purpose journey, a trip to the bank, shopping and a walk. We parked near the Castle in Carlisle, very cheap, £2.60 for all day! We walked westward along the river for a while then turned back to walk in Bitts Park to the Memorial Bridge, over it into Rickerby Park then back through Bitts Park
A Swan
Cygnets
We'd stopped for some lunch in Bitts Park hoping to spot a heron or other wildlife.
We did see a heron on our return to Bitts Park
Our walk was 6 miles with 59m of ascent. That is it for the photos this week, we went out on 2 more walks on Sat and Sun but I didn't take any photos, We went to Talkin Tarn, Castle Carrock Reservoir and Gelt Woods and I have hundreds of photos already. I may not bother taking any more photos until lockdown 2 is over.
