Title: Penrith to Windermere
Post by: Calvert on 17:39:40, 13/05/07
I had Thursday and Friday off work, so me and a mate thought we would go on a lil walk;

We drove upto windermere train station Thursday morning and got the train upto Penrith, we set off from Penrith about 11.30am and got back to Windermere Friday about 4pm.

We walked via Pooley Bridge, Haweswater, Martindale Common.

Half way through it was noting but pain, we was climbing mountains 850 Meters + high above sea level, as it had rained on both days and was soaking wet (we was wearing good waterproofs) and cold, we still worked into the hills. Its was taking around 1.5 hours to climb some of them.

I took some pics, with the camera phone;

A lot of the views were obscured by the clouds, and was raining half the time so i could have got better pics lol.

When we got back we went straight to the pub lol;

Dude, You have just sent my Minolta camera running for the hills!!  :o

Some of those pictures literally took my breath away, and you took them on a camera phone?

Awesome, how far did you go, looks like it was quite trip!  ;)

lol, yeah it is quite a good camera phone its the Nokia N73, 3.2MP with a Carl Zeiss lens.

We must have walked more than 40 Miles, ive done the walk before but i wanted to beat my last time.

We did a thing called DragNet the 1st time, where you get dropped off in the middle of nowhere at Midnight on a Friday, with a map and your kit.

And they say meet us at location 'B' at 11am Sunday morning.

But you have to keep inside the boundry and there are peeps after you, you then get a 1hour head start to make as much ground as you can (usually run the first 2 hours or so).

Its good fun :)
