Another day , another bench .

I like to read memorials too but
Warning - never visit Sidmouth. There must be upwards of fifty memorial benches on the SWCP up the hill leading westwards.
and as for the Donkey Sanctuary nearby ..........
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

At times I use a well placed bench and of course especially if it is time to eat and drink . I do have mixed feelings about how many seem to be appearing all over the Countryside though .

I read quite a while back about how a guy dislikes cairns because he thinks they spoil the natural state of things in desolate places .Yet I quite like cairns , especially on hills and suchlike . I always bag them before moving on .  O0

Did your curiosity take you down to find out why?

I know the area and the road leads to a river that is too deep for most vehicles but it does appear that tractors and extra large vehicles use it occasionally as far as I can see .The first time I came across it was many years ago , when walking with a friend and the route we planned was to go across the ford presuming there would be a foot bridge...we had to change our planned route .. ::)

Here is the river crossing .

Took a swift walk near home , down to a place called Hopwood and along the Worcestershire canal . This is one of my favourite views at the moment .Looks desolate and spooky to me .

I have lived here since 1985 and it is only in the last 2 years I have taken to walking on the fells. Prior to that I was either playing golf or cycling.
For anyone interested picture was taken with a Panasonic TZ80 (about £200) with it set for "Distinct Scenery" and copied straight from the camera with no adjustments.

Tempted to walk to the nearest highest hill, then I remembered I was told the farmer had ploughed over the path! Never mind there's always to walk nearby. My golfing days were ended by injury, at least I achieved a hole in one!
