Because of the way that I camp I utilise my base layers, leggings, etc as night attire. My clean clothes change over point is when I erect my tent for the evening. I change to clean clothes, wear them overnight and continue to wear them the following day. I wash what I've worn and they then dry on the back of my rucksack. Usually works well as a routine, only rain can disrupt my daily pattern.
Merino wool is difficult for me, it makes me itch, but I have discovered that if I wear my Bryynge 'string vest' next to my skin I can then wear the merino items that I have. I hate owning stuff that I can't use.
Nowadays I wear a pair of elasticated synthetic leggings at night, bought on the internet for a fiver. They are just thin material elasticated tubes, the top clings to the top of my upper thighs (like old fashioned ladies stocking used to) and the bottom just secures around my ankles. I tend to prefer to have uncovered feet because they are always warm in the foot box of my sleeping quilt. I also wear the tubes in the summer because once on, (I sleep on my side) if it's hot and sticky it makes my legs feel more comfortable, sometimes skin to skin can feel clammy.
