I've been experimenting creating routes with Viewranger, and being totally new to this I would like some feedback on how this route appears online, please :)

Looks okay to me. You'll see the same though when you click the link.

Thanks sussamb - all new to me and I just wanted to double check before I created more routes.

All appears fine here. Tried it in two browsers with different engines, all good. O0
I've no experience with ViewRanger, I assume that OpenStreetMap is the default dataset for a free account.

Thanks vghikers. I'm new to Viewranger too - it appears that you have access to a number of different map formats for free, including satellite and Viewranger Landscape, which does have contour lines (although I wouldn't trust it in the mountains).

You really cant go wrong with view ranger, been using for a couple of years now. The free maps do provide a good compliment to use when planning and satellite view is good for seeing those paths not shown or gaps in walls.
If you are a subscriber to trail magazine you get a full free year access to OS maps although think it is going to half price soon.
I make all my routes on the app and then transfer to my map. Taking an android device with the app on gives a good second backup and if you have android the recording part even works in flight mode, so great for battery life.
Just make sure you sync device before going and download map to device in case the signal disappears.
Have fun and join the 2019 challenge

Thanks inthebagbud :)
I'm not planning to use Viewranger on the hill, but want to create routes that I can link to when I produce a trip report.
What is the 2019 challenge, by the way?

If you switch ViewRanger on for your walk you can use it to record your track, Save it at the end of your walk and when you get back the track will be visible on your ViewRanger page on the website. One of the menu options is to create a route from your track which will save you the need to plot the route.

Thanks ninthace - I will give that a try.
