I presume your talking about 2" thick barbells. They are used in contests, or as part of training to strengthen the hands (especially the thumb). The thicker the bar is the tougher to hold onto, well of course this also depends on the size of your hand.

Glad you like the site. Plenty of strength history there as well, as I'm a historian as well.

My next climb looks like it will be the Carneddau. I think I'll try and do some kind of steel bend on all 3 peaks.

Hi

I am new to the site, been on before to read posts but not registered. I have now registered and have found the site really cool with like minded people who range from a gentle walk in the woods to raving madness of challenges an hikes.

Thanks for the welcome

Glad you enjoyed it like I said great books both of them.  So what your next plan  of action.  Have you tried any where in the Lakes as some of these routes are quite hard as well, some of us are doing a route.  A round Great Langdale if you fancy it, it's entirely up to you. ;D
peace and tranquillity in the countryside. clean your rubbish up after you  respect it.

My next plan of action is this Saturday coming.

Bending Steel in the Clouds! (Under aegis of BHSA)

Saturday 20 October, 2007

Venue: Mt. Pen-yr Ole Wen, Mt. Carnedd Dafydd, Mt. Carnedd Llewelyn, Wales

Start: Hopefully setting off up the mountains at 8.30 am

We will set off on a 12 mile round trip where we climb Mt. Pen-yr Ole Wen (3,209ft), and then climb the ridges to Mt. Carnedd Dafydd (3,425ft), and finally Mt. Carnedd Llewelyn (3,491ft). We hope to do some bending steel (might go for a new record) on each of the peaks, weather permitting!

I've seen the walk you've planned, but I cannot make that time as I'm working all that weekend. But I hope you all have a great time.
