Camping in the Lakes?
« on: 01:09:10, 24/01/07 »
Hi, I'm starting up hiking again after a few years away from it, and was wondering a few things. First off, where abouts around Windermere and Ambleside would people recommend for hiking/trekking, and where should I avoid? Secondly, what are the rules with regards to camping in the Lake District? Obviously it's national park, so I was wondering what the rules and regulations are. Thanks, Andy.

If based in Ambleside get up to Great Langdale - ALL great walks around there, campsite too - famous recently as a holday spot for suicide bombers.
1. Pavey Ark to Harrison Stickle to Pike of Stickle to Loft Crag.
2. Crinkle Crags and Bowfell. Can do Pike of Blisco too.
3. Lingmoor Fell / Side Pike for a great overlooked small one.

Not meaning to be corrective but IMO much better than the Coniston fells.

Could also try the Ill Bell ridge on the east side
