I bought an Odlo synthetic medium baselayer recently and sent it back because it was too tight. I then ordered a large, it came this morning, fits like a glove but not a tight glove, I'm wearing it now, so soft and cosy. I'll test it properly tomorrow.

I find that sizing is the biggest problem when buying clothes online, 'medium' can sometimes mean all sorts of different sizes.

The two garments I remember most were my Paramo Alta 2, I bought a medium but it was too big so I exchanged it for a small, and it was still too big, but not as big as the medium so kept it. I then bought a Marmot Precip, same problem, the small was big but I kept it.

I've bought boots online and to date, I've not had a sizing problem.

A pair of Ron Hill Tracksters to replace those that I shredded walking out from Lingcove Beck last year. Great general purpose walking wear.

I used my Odlo synthetic long-sleeved baselayer this morning. I started with (it was cold) my Brynge 'string vest' on with the base layer over the top but this combination proved to make me far too hot. I took the Brynge off and wore just the Odlo, a lot better, I cooled very quickly. I'll wear it for the next few days to find out how long it will take for odour to be noticed.

Thanks. I can't decide whether to go for the £110.60 water or the £257.40 water.

Now if they only sold deuterium rich water, I could find a use for that uranium I have in the shed.  ;)

Just ordered some 2mm titanium bar from China for my lightweight cookset, £3.38 including postage for 5 x 250mm lengths. I only need one length for the cookset, so will turn at least two of the other lengths, suitably trimmed, into a couple of those ultralight skewer like tent pegs.

Anyone had any experience of bending titanium bar? As titanium is a relatively poor conductor of heat, it should be easy to heat it up to red hot on a gas hob, which is what I shall try. I may make a jig to bend it in a controlled manner.

If it works out well, I may order some 3mm bar to make some more useful titanium tent pegs, will work out at about 80p a peg.

Today I bought a Quechua tent from Decathlon. I am excited to go wild camping soon!

Good luck with your wild camping

I'm always surprised that there are so many good YouTube about Decathlon clothing, but hardly any videos showing Decathlon tents or sleeping bags.

Let us know how you get on with your new tent

Thank you! I will, it is pretty compact and fits in my rucksack and about 2.4 Kg.
