Eastern Lake District -- The Whinfell Ridge

Eastern Lake District

We set off yesterday morning with the intention of doing the Wasdale Horseshoe from the summit of the A6 but as we drove up Shap, although a fine & sunny morning it was still very hazy. Those amongst you who have walked these fells know that they offer little in the way of views particularly if the distant views are lost in haze.
A quick rethink and we pulled in at the layby near Hucks Bridge to do the Whinfell Ridge with a return back along the largely unspoilt Borrowdale valley. Normally when we do this walk we carry on to the summit of Great Coun overlooking the M6 as it runs through the Lune Gorge but we gave this a miss today.
Brilliant weather apart from the haze.
Dist: 9 miles Ascent: 2107 feet Time: 5h 10m

Pictures for this walk are now available for those wishing to view
Regards,
Dave
