Advice on training?
« on: 18:16:44, 30/07/15 »
Hello,

I'm a bit of a newbie to trekking. I've done some guided treks through Thailand and up Mt. Kinabalu in Borneo, but I'm really keen to do a solo 4-5 day trek through one of the national parks in the U.S.

Before I go, I'd like to get some proper training under my belt - navigation, advice about equipment, that sort of thing. I was wondering if anyone might be able to recommend a course (in the UK!) that might be appropriate!

Thanks in advance,
Sam.

Hi,

There are plenty of skilled people in this country who run navigation or mountain skill courses, however I have never been trekking in the usa, so it is hard to say how suitable they would be?

A general navigation skills course set in wild
Country of the UK would always help I guess?

Where abouts in the UK are you based/willing to travel to?

Hi Sam, welcome from North Wales.  :)

Sounds like you've been on some excellent trips.
