Birdseye and 50k Mapping GPSmap64S
« on: 21:01:37, 25/08/15 »
The Birdseye imagery will not overlay and display on the 50k Discovery map but will on talkytoaster and the Garmin base map. Garmin forums mention a problem after a version update, I am running version 4

Searched the Garmin forums but cant seem to find a solution so was wondering if any forum member had the same issue and found a solution or what the problem is?

Isn't talkytoaster the username of the chap who uploads the maps?

Yes it is :)

As for Rhino's problem I suspect the issue is that the map transparency for os mapping is set to maximum so nothing can overlay it.

Had a quick look but can't find a setting for this, I'll take a look at the manual tonight.

Thanks

Unfortunately it's not something you can change as it's set in the map itself by OS.

After consulting the Garmin website it should display the Birdseye imagery using the OS map at both 25 and 50k so i would think that the transparency should be set to allow this. It displays over the 50k mapping in Basecamp ok.

That said i always have to connect the GPS and display 50k mapping before being able to see the 50k mapping which is a pain but after reading a bit more info it seems i can download a free OS 50k map which i can always display in Basecamp whether the unit is connected or not.

I think i selected and downloaded the imagery using the basecamp map and not OS so i am going to try the free OS mapping and download again and see if that  makes a difference.
